Chile Phone Number / VoIP FAQ's

What is a Chilean virtual phone number?

A Chilean virtual phone number is a telephone number that is associated with the Chilean dialing code but can be used to receive calls from anywhere in the world. This service is particularly useful for businesses and individuals who want to establish a local presence in Chile without physically being there. For a monthly fee of $2.95 USD, you can have a Chile-based number that forwards calls to your current location, regardless of where that might be. This service is not only cost-effective but also offers the convenience of maintaining a single, consistent contact number while operating globally.

How can I record calls with my Chilean virtual phone number?

With our cloud phone system, you can utilize the Call Recorder module to record calls, including those made via SIP Account and External Line contact methods. The recorded calls can be sent to a specified email address, a file server, or a third-party cloud account. This feature can be very useful for businesses for quality control or legal purposes. However, it's important to check local laws in Chile regarding call recording.

Can I set up an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system with my Chilean virtual phone number?

Yes, our cloud PBX allows you to set up an IVR system, also known as a call menu. This system allows callers to interact with your phone system via the telephone keypad, directing them to various destinations based on their keypress choices. You can learn more about how to configure your call flow in an effortless and fun way in our blog post.

How can I manage my business hours with my Chilean virtual phone number?

Our cloud phone system includes a feature called time-based routing. This allows you to route calls based on the time of day, so you could send calls to voicemail after hours or route calls to a different person on weekends. This can be particularly useful for managing incoming calls according to your business hours in Chile.

What are the differences between Chilean local, national, and mobile numbers?

Chilean local numbers are associated with specific geographic areas such as Santiago, Valparaiso, and Concepcion. When setting up a local Chile virtual phone number, a physical address in the same area where you're setting up your FlyNumber is required.

National Chile numbers are not tied to a specific geographic area and can be used anywhere within Chile. A physical address anywhere in Chile is required when setting up a national Chile number.

Chilean mobile numbers are not tied to a specific geographic area and can be used anywhere in the world. When setting up a mobile Chile number, a copy of your passport or ID, your address (which can be anywhere in the world), and a proof of address form (which can be a copy of a utility bill no older than 6 months) are required.

What happens if I lose my Chilean phone number and how do I get it back?

Losing your Chilean phone number can feel like losing a part of your identity. However, it's not always a one-way trip. With the right steps and a bit of persistence, you can often reclaim your lost number.

The first step is to reach out to your service provider. They may be able to restore your number, especially if the loss was due to a billing issue or a mistake on their part.

If your number is still available but with a different carrier, you can port and park your number. This involves transferring your number to a different service provider and keeping it active there.

If you lost your SIM card, you could get a replacement SIM from your carrier. In most cases, your carrier can assign your old number to the new SIM card.

In cases of illegal porting or fraud, you might need to take legal action. Contact your local law enforcement and report the incident. They can guide you through the necessary steps to reclaim your number and protect your identity.

For more detailed information, you can read our blog post on what happens when your phone number goes MIA and how to get it back.
