The history behind Luxembourg phone numbers

The history of Luxembourg phone numbers dates back to the late 19th century when the first telephone exchange was established in Luxembourg City. At that time, phone numbers consisted of four digits, and the exchange was manually operated by operators who connected calls using a switchboard.

Over the years, the number of digits in Luxembourg phone numbers increased as the demand for telephone services grew. In the 1960s, phone numbers were expanded to six digits, and in the 1980s, the country adopted the current eight-digit phone number system.

The current system of Luxembourg phone numbers begins with the country code +352, followed by a two-digit area code that corresponds to the geographic location of the phone number. The area codes were initially assigned based on the first digit of the phone number, but in 2002, a new numbering plan was implemented, which reorganized the area codes based on geographic location.

Technical info on Luxembourg phone numbers

Luxembourg phone numbers typically consist of eight digits, with the first two digits indicating the type of number. The prefix "2" is used for landline numbers, while the prefixes "4" and "6" are used for mobile phone numbers. The country code for Luxembourg is +352, which must be added before the phone number when making international calls.

Local calls within Luxembourg are usually free or very low cost, and many service providers offer unlimited calls within the country. Luxembourg phone numbers are regulated by the Institut Luxembourgeois de Régulation (ILR), which oversees the telecommunications industry in the country.

Luxembourg or Czech number to call into Germany

    Jul 12, 2021

    Hello:

I won’t be able to qualify for a German number but I want to call into Germany for as cheap as possible to look for a job. I am currently in Canada

    I see this:

However, I don’t think this applies if I buy a Czech number from FlyNumber and then call into Germany. So my primary question is what is cheapest way of going about calling into Germany for me?

Here are some other questions too please:

    1. What are the setup costs
    2. what are the fixed monthly costs
    3. what are the costs of inbound calls (call setup, p/minute)
    4. what are the costs of outbound calls (call setup, p/minute)
    5. how much time does it take to setup the service
    6. what is the contract duration and contract cancellation policy
    7. can i keep the virtual number if i decide to switch providers?

    Thank you

    NYC phone numbers -Inside scoop

    Nov 01, 2022

So I thought it would be a neat idea to write a little about popular area codes -their history, availability, technical aspects, and perhaps the occasional pop culture reference.  Given that we started in NYC, it only makes sense to start with the big apple. I’ve been outside the city for a while now so […]

How our aesthetically pleasing PBX grid makes configuring your call flow effortless (and fun)

    Jul 04, 2022

Remember those sheets of grid paper they used to hand out in elementary school, the ones you’d use for geometry or to draw graphs. I personally was always attracted to grids, so anytime I got to use them, for example- in school or other places , I was always delighted. Then, around 2012 we released […]
