Switch between them any time from your FlyNumber panel. A fifth setting, Park the Number, stops the number ringing anywhere (callers hear busy) with no call charges.

Registration Requirements

No registration paperwork is needed for United States numbers β€” your number usually activates right away.

SMS on United States numbers

Incoming SMS is available on every US FlyNumber on supported prefixes β€” texts are forwarded to the email on your account for a small per-segment fee. 2FA / short-code verification texts aren't guaranteed.

Outbound SMS works today for personal, person-to-person texts to numbers outside the US β€” delivery depends on the receiving carrier accepting texts from US numbers. Texting US numbers is coming soon, and it will run as A2P (application-to-person), the registered route US carriers require.

Businesses are welcome on FlyNumber β€” call forwarding, the cloud PBX, SIP/VoIP, and outbound calls all work the same on personal and business accounts. When texting US numbers arrives, A2P is exactly the route business texting uses.

Porting Your Existing Number to FlyNumber

Already have a U.S. phone number? You can transfer (port) it to FlyNumber and keep using the same number with all our features.

We support porting for local, mobile, and toll-free U.S. numbers. You'll typically need:

  • A recent invoice from your current phone provider
  • Your account number with your current carrier
  • A U.S. address on file

When you're ready, submit the request from your FlyNumber panel β€” download the LOA (letter of authorization) there, then upload the signed form with a recent bill. We handle the carrier side and keep you posted. Porting is free for U.S. numbers and typically completes in a few business days.

Interested in porting? Learn more about porting or get in touch and we'll guide you through it.
